Parents Helping Parents Keep ‘Em Covered

Great Start Parent Coalition of Kent County Announces Diaper Drive

Many infants and toddlers in Kent County are forced to go without one of their most basic necessities: diapers. An adequate supply costs about $100 a month—simply out of reach for many families. Diapers are not covered by assistance programs such as W.I.C. or food stamps, and local food pantries rarely have enough diapers on their shelves. One food pantry director shared a story about a family in such desperate need that they asked for adult diapers since no baby diapers were available. They planned to use duct tape to hold them on to their baby.

The Great Start Parent Coalition of Kent County is trying to collect 25,000 diapers this summer. They’ll be given to ACCESS Food Pantries to distribute to families in need.
